Art Space Gallery Membership 

Art Space Gallery is an artist owned cooperative gallery at 405 Main St. Rockland, Maine.  Our new season begins in May of each year.  The gallery exhibits all media including original paintings, collage, photography, prints, pottery, glass, wood, sculpture and jewelry.  Art Space is located in the heart of Rockland’s Downtown. Membership is juried by artist members.  The gallery began in 2005 and has been a successful venue for bringing original art created by artist members to the attention of the discerning collector.  Art Space has an active group of artists who all participate in running the gallery.  Members must be residents of Maine at least part of the year.  Each artist is responsible to gallery sit and engage the buying public during scheduled gallery hours. 

FEES: For a one-year professional artist membership commitment.  

If you are successfully juried into our art community as a new member there is a one-time fee of $250

 which is non-refundable. This is due upon acceptance. (Note: This is only required if you are accepted as a new member).

Annual Membership Dues of $775. is non-refundable, due in full by April 1. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: All gallery members are required to participate in running the gallery. 

Gallery Sitting: approximately 18 half day (or 10-12 full day) shifts per eight month year. 

Active participation in a committee:  Daily Operations, Curate, Scheduling, Publicity, etc.

Attendance at 2-3 general meetings per year. 

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN: 

The gallery pays sales tax on each artist’s sales. 

Each member has approximate equal linear feet of wall space (or the equivalent in the case of 3D work). The curate committee hangs all shows. 

Art Space takes a 25% Commission on each artist’s sales.

A one month feature show of your work in the front gallery shared with 2-3 other members. 

Art space publicity team writes and circulates press to promote your work. 

Listing on our website www.artspacemaine.com  with a link to your website from the gallery site. 

The acquaintance, friendship and respect of the professional artists in Art Space.

Other information needed: 

1.  Please submit 3 images of your work in jpeg format.  

2. Explain the type of work, medium, and approximate sizes. 

3. Attach resume and/or artist statement and any other relevant information such as special skills that may contribute to the gallery operation. 

APPLICATION DEADLINE: LAST OF DECEMBER for the following year membership. 

JURY DATE:  THIRD WEEK IN JANUARY at Art Space Gallery in Rockland.  Contact us for exact dates.  New applicants are invited to submit examples of their work to be juried by current members on that day.
